Vern Heyer

Board Member and Partner

Mr. Heyer has spent over 30 years working within the Aerospace supply chain enabling better interaction with the OEM with the use of technology and process improvements. With this background, Mr. Heyer has built a substantial network for contacts and business connections within the Aerospace industry. These relationships have led to several board positions and ownership investments, which Mr. Heyer is very involved in assisting with operations efficiencies and growth strategies. During much of his career he has been active with AIA.

In 2019, Mr. Heyer acquired LAI International Inc from RLJ equity, which he is currently serving as the managing partner and chairman of the board. Mr. Heyer has developed the strategy to create a balance of Aerospace and Medical business models to stabilize the business in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under Mr. Heyer’s leadership LAI International has obtained several COVID-19 incentives from both state and federal organizations, which has allowed LAI to retain all employees.

In 2016, Mr. Heyer sold the majority of VMH International to Sconce Solutions Ltd, which he continues serving as one of five Board Members.  Sconce Solutions Ltd, a private equity backed company based in Singapore, with a focus on technology. After the sell of VMH, Mr. Heyer was requested to serve on the board of one VMH customers, Acclaim Aerospace an aerospace start-up. He also was asked to serve on the board of Pinnacle Equity, a small investment fund based out of Dallas, TX which assisted in the VMH transaction.

From 2009 to 2015, Mr. Heyer was the founder & CEO of VMH International, a St. Louis based, value-added provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) Siemens software to future-forward manufacturing companies. VMH International was a consultative organization acting as the bridge between original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers by offering software solutions with Siemens PLM and complimentary automation software systems. These solutions were the backbone of several Fortune 500 and entrepreneurial, innovative companies and their supply chain.

Previously, Mr. Heyer was a multi-year, award-winning business development executive for Siemens PLM, the largest PLM Company in the world.  Mr. Heyer sold products and services to some of the world’s largest international manufacturing companies He was with the division when it was previously owned by EDS and prior to that was a successful private-equity backed industry rollup backed by Silver Lake, Bain, and Warburg Pincus. Mr. Heyer was involved in the additional technology acquisitions to expand the solution offered by UGS.  It was eventually sold for $3.5 Bn.

Prior to working in the PLM industry, Mr. Heyer worked for 5 years for McDonnell Douglas as an aerospace lead engineer on programs such as the International Space Station, MDX Helicopter and F-18.

Mr. Heyer earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University. He continues to be active with Science Technology Engineering and Manufacturing (STEM) initiatives with young engineers, including collaboration with both large OEM’s and suppliers such as Boeing where Mr. Heyer received his first engineering offer in 1988.

Mr. Heyer currently resides in Nashville, TN with his wife Kricky and enjoys golf, boating and mentoring his two kids (Carson & Kylie) in their career ambitions. Kylie is Public relations coordinator for Fox Sports and Carson is completing his final year of law school at Boston College.
