LAI named to top manufacturers list

Company ranked in Phoenix Business Journal's manufacturers list

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 8, 2010 — LAI International, Inc., a strategic supplier of precision components and subassemblies for original equipment manufacturers, was named to the Phoenix Business Journal’s list of largest manufacturers.
LAI moved up six spots from 21st to 15th-largest non-electronic manufacturers in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, according to the recently published Phoenix Business Journal Book of Lists 2010.
LAI — one of only three precision contract manufacturers to make the annual list — employs more than 225 people nationwide with operations in four states. The Business Journal ranks companies based on number of employees.
“We are pleased to be recognized as a top manufacturer,” Stewart Cramer, President of LAI International, said. “We plan to use the combined resources of our innovation, advanced technologies and skilled employees to help us grow and exceed our customers’ expectations in 2010. We believe we are well positioned with the right customers to see top-line growth as the economy recovers.”
Cramer pointed out several key accomplishments the company made last year, including earning process qualifications and production certifications from several key customers, progress on research and development projects associated with the manufacture of advanced power generation components, and development of a major maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) program for turbine assemblies.
LAI was recognized as a Northrop Grumman Platinum Source Preferred Supplier and established a strategic products organization last year. The company also installed new metal fabrication equipment, a five-axis machining workstation and a precision hole-drilling center.
“We will continue to gain market share in our core markets of power generation, aerospace and defense by broadening our customer base, expanding our service offerings and better leveraging the diverse capabilities of our company,” Cramer said. “We will also look at new potential growth markets in 2010 that offer the opportunity to further strengthen and grow our company.”
