LAI wins contracts for wind-powered turbine equipment
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 12, 2008—LAI International, Inc., strategic supplier of precision components and sub-assemblies for original equipment manufacturers has announced it has won several manufacturing contracts for wind-powered electrical generating equipment.
“LAI has been awarded contracts to provide more than 500 large bearing cages to
a leading original equipment manufacturer for wind turbines sold in Europe and an additional 300 for wind power projects in the United States,” Thomas Sterner, major accounts manager for LAI, said. “These critical bearing cages are 40 to 50 inches in diameter and provide roller support for frictionless rotation of the main turbine shaft. LAI utilizes its proprietary multi-axis cutting techniques to manufacture these complex components.”
Additional contracts anticipated for the programs are forecasted to be valued at several million dollars over the next several years.
