Manufacturing Operations Leader


This position reports to the V.P. of Continuous Improvement and V.P. of Manufacturing Excellence. Executing the corporate strategic plan, the Manufacturing Operations Leader's primary purpose is to direct the activities of the plant's manufacturing operations, including production, scheduling, facilities and equipment maintenance, and other manufacturing support functions. The position is accountable for achieving and sustaining manufacturing excellence via continuous improvement in the areas of through-put generation, resource management and control of operating expenses. The position is also accountable for customer satisfaction measurements, including on-time delivery, utilization of customer-provided material, defect rate and responsiveness to customer concerns.

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor of science degree with a concentration in science, mathematics or manufacturing technology
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with ISO 9002 standards and processes
  • Ability to read and interpret machining blueprints and specifications 
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis methods
  • Familiarity with the principals of lean manufacturing and theory of constraints
  • Familiarity with ERP Systems with Syteline experience highly desired
  • U.S. citizenship

LAI International’s Scarborough, Maine, location Rich Technology International seeks CNC Technicians. Duties include setting up and operating multi-axis computer numerical controlled machine tools, including CNC lathes and mills, and machining centers to machine parts to specification. The position requires benching, cleaning and inspecting machined parts. Duties include maintaining process documentation and in-process quality. The use of hand inspection tools, and understanding of blueprints and CNC programs are required.

LAI Midwest, Minneapolis, MN


Buyer Planner


LAI International is seeking an experienced Buyer Planner to join its dynamic and growing Midwest manufacturing facility, Fridley, Minn. 

The successful candidate will, under limited supervision and own initiative, be able to perform daily sales order and work order entry as well as purchase material to jobs in a timely manner.  This candidate will schedule work orders in Production and will track status daily to ensure schedules are being met.  The candidate will also be required to track purchase order status as well as vendor performance and work to reduce costs and lead times.  Strong organizational and communication skills are a must as well as the ability to pay attention to detail.  The candidate should have at least 2 years experience in manufacturing scheduling and purchasing.  APICS certification preferred as well as experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies.  The tasks will typically fall into the following categories:

•    Entry of sales order and work orders into ERP system
•    Release and scheduling of work orders
•    Electronic document typing and data entry
•    Hard copy file maintenance and processing
•    Purchase order processing for work order material and controlled inventory
•    Place purchase orders, track usage, obtain proof of delivery, set up, modify and maintain suppliers, obtain price quotes interface with internal and external customers, suppliers and vendors.

College degree or equivalent work experience required. 2+ years experience in procurement or procurement support function. APICS experience and exposure to Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodology preferred.  Must be a citizen of the United States.

Third-Shift CMM Flow Operator


LAI International's Fridley, Minn., location seeks a Third-Shift CMM Flow Operator to perform airflow testing of parts using the Universal Airflow Test Stand and to support customer program functions as assigned by the program manager. The operator will assist the Quality Assurance Department as needed. Duties and responsibilities include accurate and timely recording of all required data, ability to assist program managers with in-process inspections, repairs, secondary operations, packaging and other duties as assigned. Requirements include following all relevant LAI and ISO standards and procedures, familiarity with 5-S and Lean manufacturing standards. The applicant’s education requires a high school diploma or general education degree, or one- to three-months related experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CNC Waterjet Machine Technicians


LAI International’s Fridley, Minn., location seeks CNC Waterjet Machine Technicians for first, second and third shifts. Responsibilities include operating computer numerically controlled abrasive waterjet machinery to cut and drill a variety of materials to customer requirements. Technicians must be able to read production sheets to determine specified operation codes and enter commands to retrieve programmed instructions. Technicians also must be able to collect in-process data to support statistical process analysis andcontrol, and examine components for defects and completeness of operations. The applicant’s education requires a high school diploma or general education degree, or one- to three-months related experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
